What’s the difference between the G700 and The G800?

The jet manufacturer, Gulfstream, has upgraded its large-cabin jet fleet within only two years with the G700 and G800 models. The best in their categories, these jets offer a variety of features for owners to take advantage of.

G700

Back in October 2019, Gulfstream announced the G700 at an NBAA convention & exhibition in Las Vegas by showing a video of the aircraft taxiing in Savannah. Its longer cabin (10 ft) accommodates up to five areas making it comfortable for 19 passengers, it has 20 windows and new winglets. Powered by Rolls-Royce pearl 700 engines, the Gulfstream G700 can reach speeds of Mach .90. With a takeoff distance of just over 6,250 ft, the heads-up display assists the pilot when landing and promotes an all-around safer cockpit. The basic operating weight increased from 54,500 to 56,365 lbs. and the wet wing fuel capacity increased by 1,200 lbs.

The G700™ delivers the most spacious, innovative, and flexible cabin in the industry, plus all-new, high-thrust Rolls-Royce engines and the award-winning Symmetry Flight Deck. The aircraft completed its first flight on February 14, 2020. In 2021, its equipped price was $78M appx.

G800

Announced in October 2021 during an online event, the Gulfstream G800 is designed for range and comfort, it will have the same fuselage as the G650ER but it will borrow many elements designed for the G700 such as the cabin seats, cabinetry, and lighting in addition to the Symmetry flight deck, wing, tail, and Rolls Royce engines. Offering 4 living areas and 16 panoramic windows helping to fill the cabin with natural light in its 46 foot 10-inch long cabin (10 feet shorter than the G700) the jet will be able to seat up to 19 passengers and sleeps 10, or up to 15 passengers when outfitted with 3 living areas and crew compartment, the air in the cabin is renewed approximately every 2 to 3 minutes. It is also purified by their “Plasma Ionization Technology” air cleaning system. Priced at $71.5 million, the G800 has a G650-size cabin, 10 ft. shorter than the G700’s and with two fewer windows.

According to Gulfstream, the G800’s Pearl 700 engines are each rated at 18,250lbs of thrust and 18% more fuel-efficient. The G800’s class-leading 8,000-nm range will be achieved at a Mach 0.85 long-range cruise speed and capable to fly 7,000nm at Mach 0.90 high-speed cruise.
