A Greener future
The European flight shaming social movement “flysgham” along with the net zero emissions by 2050 commitment is making an impact on all aircraft manufacturers around the world. There can be alternatives to reduce carbon footprints, but it requires engineers to make an effort and push models forward.
Alternatives such as SAF is a great way in reducing emissions, but it still has a long way to go in increasing demand and reduce the price in order for the industry to fully implement it. Commercial airlines have already began, not yet in the private sector but it will certainly be The Future of Bizav
The best possible solutions for reduce emissions or zero emissions is feasible for smaller aircraft, compared to an airliner. Which is where the business aviation industry has an advantage.
Rather than just focusing in sustainable alternative jet fuels, Bombardier’s Team has presented EcoJet research project showing prototype name Eco-demostrator. Prototype is on the test for ideas such as hydro propulsion, future technologies, and integrating wing-fuselage configuration. According to Bombardier engineering, Eco-Demostrator aka EcoJet indicates the aerodynamics of the integrated wind-fuselage configuration has enormous potential to reduce carbon emission through reduced drag and thus fuel consumption.
With business jet traveling expected to grow substantially in the next coming years, it’s uncertain how the aviation industry around the world will reach the zero emissions goal.
